Crystal rollers; worth the hype?

Hey guys,

its been about a year since I last wrote a blog post, and to be honest a lot has changed since then; I’ve started a new job and focused heavily on my open uni degree so found it hard to balance blogging alongside it. However, I have missed not writing blogs so I’m giving it another shot.

As you can probably tell from the title of this post, this will be about crystal rollers, more specifically the Revolution crystal rollers alongside the serums.

The serums are called:

  • Rose and camomile: calming and soothing serum
  • Green tea and collagen: hydrating and plumping serum

They are both vegan and cruelty free.

The packaging itself is very aesthetically pleasing and the serums themselves are glittery (but don’t leave your face glittery, woop!). They are great value for money as a little goes a long way and the serums seem to be lasting forever.

I use the jade crystal roller with the green tea and collagen serum and the rose quartz roller with the rose and camomile serum.

I personally love them and have noticed a real difference in my skin since using them. I use the green tea and collagen one as part of my morning routine and use the rose and camomile serum during my nighttime routine.

I would highly recommend trying these if you’re skin is sensitive and dry as the rollers really help to soothe and calm inflamed skin and also the serum is absorbed into the skin causing it to feel more moisturised.

Have you tried crystal rollers? if so, leave in the comments your thoughts on them.

Until next time,

URBAN DECAY’S NAKED RELOADED PALETTE – WORTH THE HYPE?

I haven’t posted a makeup review on my blog for so long so this post was definitely overdue.

Anyone who follows me on Instagram or knows me in real life knows that I love Urban Decay’s Naked palettes and when they release a new one, I simply cannot resist getting it.

When the Naked reloaded palette was released, I was super excited as I love the original naked palette and was gutted to see it was discontinued (however now I can guess it was all part of a master plan).

Some of the shades in this palette are quite similar to the original naked palette but there are new tones thrown in there too such as the pink shades, which I love.

The palette itself is longer than the other naked palettes which mean more shades (yay!) however it no longer contains a brush which was a bit sad as I did think the brushes that came with the palettes were good.

The pigmentation of this palette is really good and you can definitely tell that Urban Decay has upped their game when it comes to their eyeshadow formula.

You can create loads of different types of looks with this palette from subtle to smoky which is perfect for all round use.

Even though it has strong similarities to the original palette I still find myself using both which is good.

What Urban Decay Naked palette is your favourite?

Love always,

Jess x

My thoughts on Pixi’s Glow Tonic

So recently I’ve been using the very hyped Glow Tonic by Pixi. I’m pretty sure by now everyone has seen the Pixi Glow tonic on their insta feed at least once!

After months of seeing it everywhere, I decided to give it a go and see what all the fuss was about..

Ive been using it for over a month, maybe even two (my memory is awful) so I can safely say that my opinion on it is solid. Unfortunately, I didn’t fall in love with it like so many others seem to have. I do have quite sensitive skin so that could be a factor towards why I haven’t noticed any benefits.

During the last month or so, I’ve noticed a noticeable deterioration in my skin; I’ve changed my diet and tried other things whilst keeping the toner the same. After applying the toner my skin feels extra dry and not ‘glowy’ at all…so much for ‘glow tonic’ eh? My skin breaks out more and is a lot more red and ‘irritated’ looking which obviously isn’t the skin look I desire.

I am gutted as I have seen so many good reviews on the tonic however I personally will not be repurchasing.

What facial toner do you use?

love always, Jess x

Benefit Kabrow eyebrow promade. Hit or miss?

So I’m sure there are loads of reviews on this eyebrow product by benefit floating around but hey why not have another one!

I bought this eyebrow promade in May this year just before going on holiday as I’d forgotten the one I used to use on the regular which was the NYX Tame & Frame eyebrow promade and I am so glad that I did!

I’m not the best at doing eyebrows but I found this one especially easy to use and the little brush that it comes with is actually good! (Normally I don’t use the brushes that come with promades)

It’s smooth to apply and looks quite natural when used which is perfect especially for daily use.

The most impressive thing about this promade for me is that it’s waterproof (aka sweatproof) so was perfect when used on holiday.

Do you remember that heatwave that hit the Uk in the summer? Well damn, my eyebrows didn’t smudge once!! Even when I went on holiday late August the kabrow even survived me swimming!

I’m not an expert on eyebrow promades and haven’t even tried the Anastasia Beverly Hills one but I would highly recommend this one!

It gets 5/5 from me!

What is your favourite eyebrow product?

Love always, Jess.

Products I’ve not been loving ☹️

Hey guys,

Today’s post is a bit different to my normal posts as it’s not so positive but just as honest.

It’s unrealistic to think that we love everything that we buy because we simply don’t, there are certain products that may actually be good but don’t work for you.

Here are some products that I’ve been trying out but haven’t worked for me as I wished they would:

L’Oreal facial cleansing oil

I’ve been using this for over four weeks and I just don’t get the hype of oil cleansers. It does take off makeup but leaves my skin feeling too oily and god forbid I try to remove eye makeup, then my eye goes blurry and feels like I cant see. I personally wouldn’t recommend as I feel like micellar water and makeup wipes work much better!

NYX Badunkadunk mascara

Yes I bought this purely for its’ name, serves me right, right? I love majority of NYX’s products so was a bit surprised to be disappointed with this one. It adds a reasonable amount of volume but boyyy does it make me look like a panda! Putting it on is like doing surgery, I have to make sure my hand is absolutely still or it transfers everywhere. Even after just an hour of wearing it I find myself with panda eyes. The kids at my job love it, I frankly do not. I wouldn’t recommend this product unfortunately.

Barry M liquid chrome highlighter drops

I personally prefer powder highlighters but really wanted to give this a go because it looked stunning when I swatched it instore. I don’t think its a bad product, I just don’t enjoy using it on myself as it can be quite patchy and hard to blend out.

The Body Shop Almond nail and cuticle manicure oil

I use this every night and have seen no difference to my nails sadly, it doesn’t help to push up my cuticles so I wouldn’t recommend this product.

And that is all! This post was long awaited as I like 9/10 of the products I buy so it’s very uncommon to find something that disappoints!

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post! Please let me know in the comments what products you’ve not been loving recently!

My February Favourites

Hey guys,

Today’s post are my favourites from February, another month another favourites post. I can’t believe it’s already March, where has February gone?

This month it is purely makeup and isn’t that many as the products featured in last months favourites post are still my favourite also!

Makeup Revolution Pearl Lights loose highlighter

I’ve never used a loose highlighter before but damnnnn this is pigmented!!! It gives a lovely golden glow and isn’t too much or too little if that makes any sense? I would highly recommend any highlighter loving person to try this! After all, you get a lot of product for only £5.

L’Oreal Eye Paint

I’ve only ever tried two liquid eyeshadows and at first I wasn’t overly keen but this one completely changed my view! It works great with a cut crease or for a simple liner look.

Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer

You’re probably sighing right now thinking I can’t stop banging on about this concealer and you’re right! I can’t….simply because I love it! Check out my review on it here.

Urban Decay Naked Palette

I know this palette has been out forever and I pushed it to a side for a while because I got new ones. I recently went back to using it and wonder why I ever stopped. Honestly go back to your old palettes and you’ll remember why you loved them before!

I hope you enjoyed this post! Thank you for reading.

What is your favourite product that you’re using at the moment?

Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer Review

Hey guys,

Today’s post is my review on Makeup Revolution’s new concealer which everyone is talking about! You’re probably bored of reading reviews on this concealer but if on a small chance that you haven’t seen one then yay welcome to mine!

Before I actually got my hands on the concealer I had heard such good reviews on the concealer so I just had to get my hands on one or in my case two… I have the shades C3 & C4.

There is a lot of talk that it is a dupe for the Tarte shape tape concealer which is awesome as I always wanted to try the Tarte one but was put off by the price (£35) whereas the MUR is only £4 (bargainnn)

My Rating: 5/5

My Review

I absolutely love this concealer, it definitely lives up to the hype! The coverage is amazing but isn’t too thick/heavy so is easy to blend and gives a ‘flawless’ look. It is a great way to cover blemishes and brighten up under the eyes! I don’t  I could flaw it in any way at all!

I would 100% recommend this to everyone and anyone as its one of my fave products at the moment!

Thank you for reading today’s post.

What is your opinion on the MUR conceal & define concealer?

Mini Haul from Superdrug, Lush & more

Hey guys!

Feels like ages since I’ve written a blog post but in reality it’s only been a week!

Today’s post is going to be about what I bought on monday when I went shopping to Westfields. It’s mostly makeup because…well I’m addicted.

11c940e7-46a9-418b-906e-c0f8c9e73875

So lets start off with the makeup bits that I got from Superdrug..

82841fef-7cc3-4c90-94e0-44c584ff8784

Superdrug had this awesome deal which was to spend £12 and get the ‘Love Conquers All’ palette by Makeup Revolution which is a total bargain if you ask me! Plus I needed those three bits anyway!

Makeup Revolution Luxury Baking Powder

b8d7bb2b-fda9-4e0a-9c54-bb7a34428c39

Okay so I have been looking for a baking powder for EVER, so I was so happy to finally get this! It was the fourth time of me searching a superdrug for it but all they had was the banana baking powder which is wayyy too yellow for my skin tone. So I thought the ‘lace’ shade would be perfect.

First impressions: 4/5 – you get a lot of product and for £5 what more could you want? It also seems to do a good job at baking although it’s not the best I’ve seen (via youtube) but for a beginner like me, who’s just started to bake; it is perfect! Would definitely reccommed!

Makeup Revolutions’ Conceal & Define concealer

816ad55b-70ad-410a-9c5d-030b57442a39

As you are aware that I already own one of these if you’ve seen my previous post but on monday I bought the lighter shade as I had previously purchased it in the shade C4 but wanted it lighter. As it is super popular it has taken ages to find a light shade in a store so on monday I got the C3.

To find out my first impressions on this you’ll have to stay tuned and wait for my review on it which is coming up soon..

Makeup Revolutions’ Pro Fix Illuminating fixing spray

818e92a8-3b88-434b-b5a5-4b78f6bc9658

I’ve been in need for a new fixing/setting spray as my Rimmell one broke, so thought I’d give this a shot.

First impressions: 3/5, seems to do the job but the smell isn’t the best.

Makeup Revolution Love Conquers All eyeshadow & highlighter palette

939b61df-1dd3-44d8-b06c-c0e2c9287aaa

I’m aware the swatches havent come out too well, it was the first time me doing swatches so please don’t hate. The light shades don’t come out too well but the deeper ones do and boyy are they good! The highight is the heart in the middle and acts as a cute and glowy blush.

My first impressions: 3/5 as the pigmentation is good..but not as good as MUR’s other palettes.

Inglot Duraline

198d5640-9734-4bc8-b70b-3f557b1d71a9

I heard about this from one of my favourite MUA’s Abigail Forbes. It is a mixing liquids which makes dried up makeup products more usable. My eyebrow promade was getting a tad dry and this is just what it needed!

My first impression: 5/5, it works like a charm! My brow promade is practically brand new!

Kiko Radient Fusion Baking Powder

77034a01-6d5f-44c7-9106-1f5cda6b0849

So I went from having no baking powders to having two! This one is a different formula so maybe it’ll work better or worse.. I don’t know. I love Kiko however and this was half price so I couldn’t resist!

I have no first impressions as I haven’t used it yet.

L’Oreal Brow Artist Plumper

8bb665bf-28a0-41b2-b244-76b102f9e3b7

I’ve needed an eyebrow gel for absolute ages! So it was about time I purchased one! I decided to try this one as I’m loving their eyebrow pencil at the moment so why not!

My first impressions: 5/5, can’t fault it in any way, does everything I wanted/needed it to do.

Spectrum Tapered blender brush

ed5fbf52-811d-47f6-a85d-46598dca0fec

I’ve seen spectrum brushes everywhere at the moment! I only just realised boots sold them so I treated myself to this one.

My first impressions: 5/5, the brush is super pretty and soft and it blends the shadow perfectly.

Lush The hair doctor hot oil treatment

e969ad09-1577-4fef-a6f4-2397f70511fd.jpg

As I’m in desperate need for my hair to grow I have been looking around for different masks and oils to use and this was one that I have found!

I have no first impressions as of yet, as I haven’t tried it yet!

Lush Teo Deodrant

461fbcd2-97d0-431a-8bf6-b22449a62dfb

You’re probably reading this and thinking that I’m a weirdo for buying this but I’ve been looking around for a cruelty free deodorant and couldn’t find one. Lush did sell these powder ones but can you imagine how messy that would get, well with me trying to use it anyway.

Again, I haven’t got any first impressions of this as I’m yet to try it out.

Lushs’ Roots hair treatment

7ba9dcd8-126f-4b48-bd8b-15cad643e504

As I said previously I’ve been looking for hair masks to help my hair grow or in this case make my hair less ‘fine’.

And you guessed it..I haven’t tried this yet either so have no first impressions.

So this may be more than a ‘mini haul’ oops.. But in all seriousness, I hope you have enjoyed reading this and maybe seen something you like.

Here are the websites where you can get what I have mentioned above:

And that is all!

Thank you so much for reading this post! There will be reviews upcoming for some of these products so please keep your eyes peeled.

Love, Jess x

P.S. What hair masks/oils have any of you found that helps your hair to grow? (Please answer in the comments)

My January Favourites

Hey guys,

Today’s post is going to be on my favourites from last month. Yes I know it’s a bit late as it’s nearly half way through February but let’s just pretend it’s last week😂.

I personally love these posts so thought I need to do these more often.

So let’s begin,

Favourite Makeup bits

I don’t know about you but I’m seriously loving Makeup Revolution’s makeup recently. For such low prices the quality is AMAZING and to be honest the eyeshadow palette is just as pigmented as my urban decay palettes.

Here are some more Makeup Revolution bits and my new L’Oreal eyebrow pencil. Everyone is taking about their concealer and for good reason, I LOVE it! (Review will be up soon). Their loose highlighter is also so good, I’m in love!

This is the ‘Pure Gold’ Lipstick from L’oreal which I am in complete love with, just look at it!

This is another lipstick from L’oreal that I’ve been loving. It is in shade 116 and is a shimmery nude.

Favourite Hair Products

Here are all my hair products that I’ve been loving! As I’m trying to grow my hair these really help and are so good! My hair has been feeling and looking so much better since I’ve been using them.

Favourite Netflix shows

Reign and Riverdale are both my faves at the moment. You should give both a watch if you haven’t already!

That is all for my favourites! I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s posts and maybe learnt more about what I like.

What are your favourites from January?

Love,

Jess x

What’s in my makeup bag?

Hey guys,

I’m back!!! (Well I didn’t physically go anywhere but I had a mini break) I’ve been super busy with work and personal things but I’m so happy to be back writing posts!

Today’s post is about what I keep in my makeup bag, if the title didn’t give it away already (shocker, right?)

Let’s start of with my makeup bag, as many of you know I LOVE Harry Potter so couldn’t resist buying this when I saw it! (Primark £4) I wanted to get a hufflepuff one as that’s the house I’ve been sorted in. However, they only had gryffindor and slytherin in stock so I chose the gryffindor one.

These are the makeup bits and bobs that I keep in it. I have other makeup bags filled with other makeup but these are my go-to’s.

Glitter pigments & glitter primer from NYX

I love NYX’s products, they are of such great quality and value! And they’re cruelty free, bonus!!

Sleek face form and highlight palettes

I’m also a big fan of sleeks highlighter palettes and I love the contour palette, it works perfect for me! I’ve always preferred powered based contours as I find them easier to work with and blend out. The highlight on the body form palette is also my fave, as you can probably tell due to it almost being finished.

NYX & Urban Decay eyeliners

Urban Decay do my favourite liquid eyeliners of all time! I use their heavy metal eyeliners in almost every makeup look I do! The ‘epic ink liner’ from NYX is also the best liquid liner I’ve used as it’s so easy to apply and doesn’t bleed out!

NYX & L’Oreal mascaras

Yes I bought the ‘badunkadunk’ mascara by NYX purely for its name… however, I was pleasantly impressed at its quality. Although it does transfer onto my eyelids almost every time I apply it; and god forbid you rub your eye…panda look it is! But other than that it is good and adds good volume onto my lashes. The other mascara is by L’Oreal and I can’t remember the name for it, but it’s a fibre mascara and is AMAZING! I haven’t used false lashes since and well.. that speaks for itself.

NYX & L’Oreal primers

I love the L’Oreal ‘infallible luminizing primer’ it’s a lovely texture, very easy to apply and makes your skin glow even under foundation! When I’m not using The L’Oreal primer I use my NYX HD Studio primer which matches my foundation, it works really well and keeps my makeup intact, hooray!

Foundation, BB cream and concealers

If my skin is bad I use L’Oreals’ glam nude BB cream as a primer/base under my foundation. Otherwise I use my foundation and concealer as usual. I love the foundation, it’s not too thick but has a good coverage. However without powder it can be shiny.

Rimmell eyebrow pencil & NYX eyebrow pomade

As you can see I’ve almost finished the eyebrow pencil, I love it! But won’t be getting another one as it’s nit cruelty free. However I love NYX’s brow pomade, for me it’s perfect and totally affordable! However I do want to try the ABH one as it’s clearly one of the best from the hype!

And that is all! As I mentioned earlier I do have much more makeup than that but these are the bits I use regularly and love the most!

Whats the favourite makeup product that you have in your make up bag?

Thank you so much for reading today’s post.

Love,

Jess x
